If you are reading this, you are probably considering the time it is going to take to read this, versus the time you could spend doing something else. A second, a minute, an hour, a day, a week, a month, a year, a century and so forth.
What is time? Our time is, ' perceptual time ', we have invented a series of intervals that resonate back to the ancient Sumerian time system. (i.e., 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, etc.,)
But actual time? Time is the decay of matter.
And gravity affects time.
The larger the mass of an object, the more it bends and warps the space-time around it. So, time moves slower around the sun, than it does on Earth. Meaning that the matter around the sun, the atoms and what-not, decay slower. And yes, even our time system is affected by this; the atoms that make up the matter and mechanical/quantum make-up of our time counting mechanisms actually slows down that as well.
Here is my unnerving question, something I keep thinking:
Atoms can become infinitely close to one another, their gravitational pull on each other becoming infinitely greater. The quarks inside the atoms as the atoms become closer, start to move slower and slower.
Does time differ in quantum time, than in general time? If two atoms start to get closer and closer, infinitely close, attracting other atoms, is this what causes the actual time distortions? Is this what holds matter together? Science still doesn't know.
But, you and I, are the decay of matter.
Another interesting thought: Strangelets.
Strangelets are atoms that have an equal number of up, down and strange quarks. While hypothetical, they still arouse a certain bit of, curiosity in my mind as well as others.
Strangelets are theoretically found in supernovas, and pulsars.
Theoretically when a strangelet atom touches an atom of normal molecular structure, it turns that atom/piece of matter into a strangelet, which will in turn do the same thing to the next, and the next until the entirety of it's surrounding is consumed by one giant strangelet atom.
Just a ramble.
